I woke this morning to a realisation – it’s time to move on.
I’ve been here for over a week now, running constant anti-xeno ops and though there seems no end in sight to the constant irritation of the ‘goid incursions, I think we’ve done enough to ensure that Malthus Terminal is safe – at least for the time being.
I took some bad damage today – either the ‘goids are getting tougher or i’m getting more worn down, Either way, I was lucky to make it back from that sortie in one piece.
This constant combat – it isn’t me. I’ve answered the call and come out here to do my bit – which was the right thing to do – but i’m losing sight of what I am – i’m an explorer, first and foremost. The Perseus Reach expedition launches in less than a week and I still have last-minute work to do on the Leonov, so it’s time to head back and get ready to leave for the deep Black.
As always, the Black calls, and I must answer.
